After reading the reviews I was a little scared that it would somehow ruin my expensive gadget. I plugged it in and when it didn't explode, I let out a sigh of relief and let it charge. It seemed to go quicker than when I use my computer for charging (about 2hrs I think). You can continue using the iPod while it is charging, no problems. Although the first charger I received didn't work, when I contacted the seller (SPplanet) they quickly sent a replacement that has been working fine.
